Finally arrived in the city. The Jersey turnpike was a mess, and there were a slew of Ohio drivers clogging the PA Turnpike, which put us into rush hour traffic approaching the Lincoln Tunnel. Very fun with a dog who has been in the car for seven hours and Michelle and I totally jet lagged and not having slept. Whee! Regardless, its t-minus one hour and a half until my Luger's experience. I can't help but be excited. You don't really order from a menu there apparently, but instead just say "Steak for X Number of People". Cool. Tomorrow I should be very full and fat. I'm thinking I'll go out to Jersey and see my boyz and visit the old hood. Should be nostalgic, to say the least. Oh, for all of you who have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Singapore pictures, I wouldn't recommend opening the movie files, as Quicktime doesn't seem to be able to handle streaming files. Take that, Mac advocates! If anyone knows of a good utility for converting Quicktime to Windows Media or Real Player, let me know. Ok, I'm off to stuff myself. Ciao! Wednesday, December 25, 2002
BACK! Singapore was friggin awesome. I could go on for pages about it, but I figure I'll split it up into a few days posts so as not to bore you. My first task is to post some pics and movies from the experience in the pictures section. The flights were, surprisingly, not bad at all. Good food, entertainment, and over-the-counter sleep aids made it more than bearable. Shopping was, of course, great. The electronics they have available there are very slightly cheaper, but they give you lots of freebies with them that make them worthwhile (for example, a free 32MB Compact Flash card with a Canon digital camera). Additionally, they have things there that we just don't have here. I'll let you in on the secret: MV is the next big thing. MiniDV is great, but MV has higher quality, longer tape times, and it smaller than a MiniDV tape. I didn't buy an MV recorder for fear it would "Beta"-tize itself before coming here. In other news, grades are in. The only one I've raised a stink about it Communication Design Fundamentals. I had a B+ at midterms. I've gotten only A's since then. How, then, did I get a B+? Again, the grading criteria for design classes eludes me. So, tomorrow its off to New York for a wedding. Tomorrow night, however, I will have my virginal experience at Peter Luger's in Brooklyn, which I have been assured is heaven in one's mouth. Also, Mich's sister Nicole recently bucked up and bought a little Pekingese puppy, which should be a fun little thing for Bilbo to throw around. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! |
